An electronic control is provided for a vehicle having a main drive for propelling the vehicle, a fluid pump for providing pressurized fluid, and a supplemental drive driven by the pressurized fluid for providing supplemental propulsion for the vehicle. A main drive sensor senses the speed of the main drive and responsively produces a main drive speed signal. A supplemental drive sensor senses the speed of said supplemental drive and responsively produces a supplemental drive speed signal. A microprocessor receives the main and supplemental drive speed signals, modifies the main drive signal by a preselected amount and responsively produces a modified main drive speed signal. The microprocessor further produces an error signal responsive to a difference between the supplemental and modified main drive speed signals and processes the error signal to produce a control signal. A fluid control device receives the control signal and controls fluid flow in the supplemental drive in response to the control signal.
