A method, apparatus and system is provided for connecting a client to a service which may already be running, or where the service may be started up at the request of the client to connect to it and that permits either side if the connection path to initiate a connection. Further no specific startup order is required. The provisions overcome limitations of client/server protocols, restrictions of connecting clients to running services, and systems having high availability requirements that make service restarts prohibitive.
