A telephone line multiplier interface detects a ringing pattern specific to an assigned telephone number associated with a telephone device connected to the interface, and routes the incoming call to the appropriate device. A single line status detector connected upstream of the device switches allows calls to be transferred from one device to another while "off- hook", allows for other devices to be selectively disabled when one device is in use, and allows for selectively enabling a ringing function of the dialled device and other devices.
