A method and centrifugal apparatus for separating more dense particles from less dense particles contained in a slurry. The separator apparatus receives slurry into a rotor assembly (10) consisting of a bowl (14) open upwardly and a surrounding hutch chamber (22). The bowl (14) has a lower impermeable portion (14), an upper impermeable portion (15), and a frusto-conical screen (16). Elutriation liquid is continuously supplied to the interior of the hutch chamber (22), and a plurality of pulse blocks (30) supply intermittent pulses of liquid to the hutch chamber (22). A dam (20A) is formed at the top of the screen.

L'appareil séparateur reçoit la boue dans un ensemble à rotor (10) constitué d'un bol (14) ouvert vers le haut et d'une chambre de type huche (22) adjacente.
