A process is described for measuring a property of oil extracted from a sample, for example, the viscosity or den- sity. The oil is extracted from the sample using a volatile polar first solvent. A portion of the extracted oil is used to determine a concentration factor. A dry weight of the oil in the sample is calculated using the concentration factor. A second solvent less volatile than the first solvent is added to the remaining extract. The first solvent is substantially removed from the remaining extract Dif- ferent amounts of the second solvent are removed from each of a series of sub- samples taken from the remaining extract. Solvent concentrations and viscosity values and/or density values of the solvent-oil mixtures are measured for each sub-sample. Based on the measured solvent concentrations and viscosity values and/or density values, the second-solvent free viscosity and/or density of the oil in the sample is estitnated.
Un procédé de mesure d'une propriété d'un pétrole extrait d'un échantillon, par exemple la viscosité ou la densité, est décrit. Le pétrole est extrait de l'échantillon au moyen d'un premier solvant polaire volatil. Une partie du pétrole extrait est utilisée pour déterminer un facteur de concentration. Un poids sec du pétrole dans l'échantillon est calculé au moyen du facteur de concentration. Un deuxième solvant moins volatil que le premier solvant est ajouté à l'extrait restant. Le premier solvant est substantiellement retiré de l'extrait restant. Différentes quantités du deuxième solvant sont retirées de chaque sous-échantillon d'une série de sous-échantillons prélevés dans l'extrait restant. Des concentrations de solvant et des valeurs de viscosité et/ou des valeurs de densité des mélanges solvant-pétrole sont mesurées pour chaque sous-échantillon. En s'appuyant sur les concentrations de solvant et les valeurs de viscosité et/ou les valeurs de densité mesurées, la viscosité et/ou la densité du pétrole de l'échantillon sans le deuxième solvant est estimée.
