ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is provided for suspension polymerization of water-soluble monomers in aqueous suspension to form spherical, unagglomerated polymer beads. The polymerization is conducted in the presence of a nonionic, substituted hydroxyalkylcellulose dispersant which is especially effective in protecting themonomer droplets from coalescence prior to their forming stable polymer particles.
