Disclosed herein is a process for preparing and applying a coating composition at extremely high pressures under conditions which significantly reduce the amount of volatile organic materials which are given off during the spray process. The spray process involves filling a spray pump receptacle with the coating wherein the spray pump is operable at pressures above about 2,750 psi and wherein the pump is provided with a temperature control means for assuring that the temperature of the pumped coating is in the range of about 65°F to 120°F so that the viscosity of the pumped coating is maintained in the range of about 250 to about 1,000 cps. The resulting coatings may be applied as a top coat, sealer, lacquer, etc. to any desired substrate, although wood is preferred, with the resulting finished coating being equal or superior to existing coating compositions.
Cette invention concerne un procédé de préparation et d'application d'un revêtement sous pression extrême pour réduire sensiblement la quantité de matières organiques volatiles libérées dans l'atmosphère en cours de pulvérisation. Le procédé de pulvérisation suppose le remplissage du réservoir d'une pompe de pulvérisation à éléments chauffants intégrés pouvant débiter à des pressions dépassant environ 2 750 lb/po2 et à une température comprise entre environ 65 degrés F et 120 degrés F, conditions où la viscosité de produit de revêtement est maintenue entre environ 250 et environ 1000 centipoises. Le produit de revêtement peut servir de couche de finition, de couche d'impression, de vernis-laque, etc. sur tous types de substrat, quoiqu'il convienne surtout aux substrats en bois, le revêtement obtenu étant de qualité égale ou supérieure à celui que donnent des composés de revêtements existants.
