A disposable absorbent article comprising a strip of soft, stretchable and liquid-resistant sheet material is bonded to a topsheet of said article on its upper surface along one of transversely opposite sides of said strip, then a portion of said strip extending outward from said article is folded along its transversely intermediate line back onto a backsheet, and the other side of said strip opposed to said one side bonded to said topsheet is bonded to said backsheet.
