The present invention provides a method for the differential diagnosis of bacterial meningitis in an individual in need of such diagnosis, comprising the steps of: measuring the levels of complement C3 and complement factor B in the cerebrospinal fluid of said individual; and determining whether said individual has bacterial meningitis based on the levels of complement C3 and complement factor B in the cerebrospinal fluid of said individual. Also provided is a method for the differential diagnosis of bacterial meningitis in an individual in need of such diagnosis, comprising the steps of: measuring the levels of complement factor B in a sample from said individual; and determining whether said individual has bacterial meningitis based on the levels of complement factor B in the sample from said individual.

La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé de diagnostic différentiel de la méningite bactérienne chez un sujet nécessitant un tel diagnostic. Ce procédé consiste à mesurer les concentrations en C3 du complément et en facteur B du complément dans le fluide cérébro-spinal dudit sujet; à établir un diagnostic de méningite bactérienne pour ce sujet en fonction des concentrations établies en C3 du complément et en facteur B du complément.
