The present invention includes compositions and methods for the treatment of inflammatory disease (e.g., asthma, COPD, inflammatory bowel disease, atopic dermatitis, allergy, allergic rhinitis, scleroderma, and the like), relating to inhibiting a chitinase-like molecule. The invention further includes methods to identify new compounds for the treatment of the inflammatory disease, including, but not limited to, asthma, COPD and the like. This is because the present invention demonstrates, for the first time, that expression of IL-13, and of a chitinase-like molecule, mediates and/or is associated with inflammatory disease and that inhibiting the chitinase-like molecule treats and even prevents, the disease. Thus, the invention relates to the novel discovery that inhibiting a chitinase-like molecule treats and prevents an inflammatory disease.
L'invention concerne des compositions et des procédés destinés au traitement de maladies inflammatoires (par exemple, l'asthme, la broncho-pneumonie chronique obstructive, la maladie intestinale inflammatoire, la dermatite atopique, l'atopie, l'allergie, la rhinite allergique, la sclérodermie, et analogues), relatifs à l'inhibition d'une molécule de type chitinase. L'invention concerne également des procédés d'identification de nouveaux composés destinés au traitement de maladies inflammatoires, telles que, entre autre, l'asthme, la broncho-pneumonie chronique obstructive et analogues. Cette invention démontre, pour la première fois, que l'expression de IL-13, ainsi que d'une molécule du type chitinase, diffuse et/ou est associée aux maladies inflammatoires et que l'inhibition de la molécule de type chitinase traite et va même jusqu'à éviter la maladie. En somme, cette invention concerne la découverte que l'inhibition d'une molécule de type chitinase traite et prévient une maladie inflammatoire.
