La présente invention a pour objet dinduire rapidement une hypothermie chez un patient, dans le cas où ledit patient souffrirait dun accident cérébrovasculaire, dhyperthermie ou dun autre problème de santé lié à la température qui nécessite une action rapide en vue de réguler la température du patient. A cette fin, une structure souple plate pouvant se conformer au corps du patient est placée en contact avec ledit patient. Cette structure présente au moins deux parties de transfert thermique. Lune des parties de transfert thermique est positionnée en contact avec le corps du patient. Ladite structure est fermée hermétiquement et un milieu fluidisé réactif aux variations de températures est prévu dans la structure entre les parties de transfert thermique. Le fluide peut passer dun état liquide à un état gazeux lorsquil est exposé à la chaleur et au froid.
