A tailgate lift assembly includes a main frame (1) which is connected directly to the vehicle on which the lift is to be used. A dual output hydraulic rotary actuator (31) is supported within the main frame (1) and is connected by means of shafts (33A, 33B) at either end to a set of hinge arms (35A, 35B) which are in turn connected to the lift platform (87). The shafts (33A, 33B) protrude from either end of the rotary actuator (31), thus allowing the lifting torque to be applied substantially equally to both sides of the lifting platform (87) and thereby providing a compact system capable of being located completely within the main frame.

Un actionneur hydraulique rotatif à double effet (31) est monté à l'intérieur du châssis principal (1) et fixé au moyen d'arbres (33A, 33B) à chaque bout d'une paire de bras articulés (35A, 35B) qui sont à leur tour fixés à la plate-forme de levage (87). Les arbres (33A, 33B) font saillie à chaque bout de l'actionneur rotatif (31), ce qui permet essentiellement d'appliquer le couple de levage également des deux côtés de la plate-forme de levage (87) et d'avoir par le fait même un système compact capable de loger complètement à l'intérieur du châssis principal.
