A method is provided for generating sparks in an ignition system for an engine having multiple spark generating devices. The method steps include charging two or more energy storage devices to predetermined voltages; discharging the energy storage devices into a common output in synchronization with engine operation; and steering the output pulses to the spark generating devices in synchronization with the engine's operation. A spark is also provided, the spark generated at an igniter plug for igniting fuel. The spark is created by a process having the steps of charging two or more energy storage devices to predetermined voltages; discharging the energy storage devices into a common output; converting the output pulse to a spark having a plume at a tip of the igniter plug; and timing the discharging of the energy storage device so that one or more initial storage device dischargings creates the spark and plume.
On présente une méthode permettant de générer des étincelles dans un système d'allumage pour un moteur ayant de multiples dispositifs de génération d'étincelles. La méthode comprend les étapes consistant à charger deux ou plusieurs dispositifs de stockage d'énergie à des tensions prédéterminées; décharger les dispositifs de stockage d'énergie dans une sortie commune en synchronisation avec le fonctionnement du moteur; et orienter les impulsions de sortie au niveau des dispositifs de génération d'étincelles en synchronisation avec les dispositifs de fonctionnement du moteur. Une étincelle est également prévue, l'étincelle générée au niveau d'une bougie d'allumage pour enflammer le combustible. L'étincelle est créée par une méthode qui consiste à charger deux ou plusieurs dispositifs de stockage d'énergie à des tensions prédéterminées; décharger les dispositifs de stockage d'énergie dans une sortie commune; convertir l'impulsion de sortie en une étincelle ayant un panache à une pointe de la bougie d'allumage; et distribuer le temps de décharge du dispositif de stockage d'énergie de manière à ce qu'une ou plusieurs décharges du dispositif de stockage initial crée l'étincelle et le panache.
