A waste collection device (10, 310, 410, 510, 610, 710, 810, 910) includes a body including a housing (12, 312, 412, 512, 612, 712, 812, 912) defining an opening (14, 314, 424, 514, 614, 714, 814). The housing opening allowing an open end (46, 46', 46", 440) of an associated bag (L, L', L'') to be folded thereover and the housing receiving a closed end (44, 44', 44", 438) of the associated bag therein. A pulling mechanism (30, 82, 26, 98; 426, 448, 456, 432, 460, 464; 526, 548, 556, 532, 580, 582; 626, 648; 726; 726'; 925, 926) is connected to the body and removably connected to the associated bag for selectively pulling . the associated bag into the housing. To use, the open end of the bag is positioned adjacent waste material (W) to be collected. The pulling mechanism then pulls the bag into the housing and the waste material is simultaneously transferred into the bag.
