Autodepositing epoxy resin coatings without the need for emulsifiers whose ionic character causes the migration of small surfactant molecules within the coating are prepared by mixing at least one anionic functionalized epoxy resin having a molecular weight of at least about 2000 Daltons with a solvent, and dispersing the mixture in water.

Cette invention se rapporte à des revêtements en résine époxyde à auto-déposition, ne nécessitant pas d'émulsifiants dont le caractère ionique provoque la migration de petites molécules de tensioactif à l'intérieur du revêtement. On prépare un tel revêtement en mélangeant au moins une résine époxyde fonctionnalisée anionique ayant un poids moléculaire d'au moins 2000 Daltons environ avec un solvant, et en dispersant ce mélange dans l'eau.
