The present invention relates to a catalyst nickel, silica, alumina and magnesium, wherein the nickel to magnesium atomic ratio is 5-75. In particular the present invention relates to a catalyst comprising nickel, silica, alumina and magnesium, wherein the nickel to silicium atomic ratio (Ni/Si) is 2 to 30 the nickel to aluminum atomic ratio (Ni/Al) is 9 to 40 and the nickel to magnesium atomic ratio (Ni/Mg) is 5-75. The invention further relates to a method for preparing such a catalyst.The invention further relates to a process for hydrogenating unsaturated organic compounds.

La présente invention concerne un catalyseur à base de nickel, silice, alumine et magnésium, dans lequel le rapport atomique du nickel au magnésium est de 5-75. Elle concerne en particulier un catalyseur à base de nickel, silice, alumine et magnésium, dans lequel le rapport atomique du nickel au silicium (Ni/Si) est de 2-30; le rapport atomique du nickel à l'aluminium (Ni/Al) est de 9-40; et le rapport atomique du nickel au magnésium (Ni/Mg) est de 7-75. L'invention concerne en outre une méthode de préparation dudit catalyseur, et un procédé d'hydrogénation de composés organiques insaturés.
