L'invention porte sur un codeur audio qui comprend: un contrôleur de fonction de fenêtrage (504); un dispositif de fenêtrage (502); un dispositif d'alignement temporel (506) doté d'une fonctionnalité de vérification de la qualité finale; un convertisseur temps/fréquence (508); un étage TNS (510) ou un quantificateur codeur (512). Selon l'invention, le contrôleur de fonction de fenêtrage (504), le dispositif d'alignement temporel (506), l'étage TNS (510) ou un analyseur de remplissage par du bruit supplémentaire (524) sont commandés par des résultats d'analyse des signaux obtenus par un analyseur d'alignement temporel (516) ou un classificateur de signaux (520). En outre, un décodeur effectue une opération de remplissage par du bruit en utilisant une estimation de remplissage par du bruit manipulée en fonction d'une caractéristique harmonique ou de parole du signal audio.
