A forming apparatus (10) is disclosed for forming a web (W) from stock (S) ejected from a headbox (12). The apparatus (10) includes a fourdrinier wire (14) which defines a substan- tially horizontal section (16) having a first and a second end (18, 20). A headbox (12) is dis- posed adjacent to and above the first end (18) of the horizontal section (16) for ejecting the stock (S) onto the fourdrinier wire (22) between the first and the second end (18, 20) of the section (16). A looped forming wire (22) cooperates with and is disposed above the horizontal section (16) such that the fourdrinier wire (14) and the form- ing wire (22) define therebetween an elongate forming section (24) for removing water from the stock (S), the forming section (24) having an up- stream and a downstream end (26, 28). A curved forming shoe (30) is disposed adjacent to the usp- stream end (26) of the forming section (24) and on an opposite side of the fourdrinier wire (14) relative to the headbox (12). The arrangement is such that during movement of the fourdrinier wire (14) over the curved shoe (30), water (32) is thrown centrifugally from the stock (S) to the forming wire (22). A vacuum slot (34) is disposed on an opposite side of the wires (14, 22) relative to the shoe (30) for conveying the water (32) removed centrifugally through the forming wire (22). A curved inverted vacuum box (36) is disposed immediately downstream relative to the vacuum slot (34) and on the same side of the wires (14, 22) as the vacuum slot (34). The curved box (36) defines a curved face (38) for guiding the wires (14, 22). The curved face (38) is curved in an opposite sense relative to the curved forming shoe (30). A looped blanket (40) is disposed on the same side of the wires (14, 22) as the shoe (30), the blanket (40) being disposed adjacent to and on the opposite side of the wires (14, 22) relative to the curved face (38). The blanket (40) cooperates with the fourdrinier wire (14) for pressing the fourdrinier wire (14) against the curved face (38) for urging a further portion of water (42) away from the formed web (W) and through the forming wire (22).
L'invention concerne un appareil de formage (10) conçu pour former une bande (W) à partir de pâte à papier (S) éjectée d'une caisse de tête (12). Ledit appareil (10) comprend un fourdrinier (14) définissant une section horizontale (16) présentant une première et une deuxième extrémités (18,20). Une caisse de tête (12) d'où la pâte à papier (S) est éjectée sur le fourdrinier (22), entre les première et deuxième extrémités (18, 20) de ladite section (16) est prévu à proximité et juste au-dessus de la première extrémité (18) de cette dernière. Une toile de formage sans fin (20) placée au-dessus de la section horizontale (16) coopère avec cette dernière de sorte qu'une section de formage allongée (24) présentant une extrémité aval et une amont (26,28) et conçue pour enlever l'eau de la pâte à papier (S) soit définie entre le fourdrinier (14) et la toile de formage (22). Une sabot de formage courbé (30) adjacent à l'extrémité aval (26) de la section de formage est prévu sur le côté du fourdrinier (14) opposé à la caisse de tête (12). Ainsi, lorsque le fourdrinier (14) se déplace sur la sabot de formage (30), l'eau (32) est projetée par effet centrifuge depuis la pâte à papier (S) sur la toile de formage (22). Une fente à vide (34) conçue pour acheminer l'eau (32) enlevée par effet centrifuge à travers la toile de formage (22), est prévue sur un côté des toiles (14, 22) opposé au sabot (30). Une caisse à vide inversé courbée (36) est prévue immédiatement en aval par rapport à la fente à vide (34), du même côté que cette dernière par rapport aux toiles (14, 22). Ladite caisse courbée (36) définit une face courbée (38) destinée à guider les toiles (14, 22). La courbure de ladite face (38) est contraire à celle du sabot de formage (30). Un tapis sans fin (40) est prévu du même côté des toiles (14, 22) que le sabot (30), en position adjacente par rapport à ces dernières et du côté de ces dernières opposé à la face courbée (38). Ledit tapis (40) fonctionne en coopération avec le fourdrinier (14) pour pousser ce dernier (14) contre la face courbée (38) et extraire encore de l'eau (42) de la bande formée (S) à travers la toile de formage (22).
