Viewing apparatus comprises an array of mir-rors surrounding an object under examination with the mirrors disposed relative to the object and to one another in such a way as to be able to present, in a single plane, a composite representation of the object derived from a series of images seen from a variety of viewpoints spaced around the object. The inven-tion also includes a quality control system using the viewing apparatus as the primary sensor.
