An apparatus is provided for autologous sequestration of blood from a patient prior to, during and after surgery. Sequestered blood contained in an assembly of blood collection bags (60) is kept in fluid contact with the patient throughout surgery, thereby assuring continuity with the patient's circulatory system. The plurality of blood collection bags (60) is interconnected with a corresponding plurality of valves (30) which is interconnected with a plurality of flexible tubes (20) which is attached to a patient's right atrium or a peripheral artery. Following induction of anesthesia in the operating room, a patient's blood is sequestered into a collection bag assembly (60) which forms a closed circuit blood reservoir system. Collected blood during surgery trickles back into the patient's blood system, thereby emulating venous blood flow.

L'invention porte sur un appareil servant à recueillir le sang autologue d'un patient avant, pendant ou après une intervention chirurgicale. Le sang recueilli, contenu dans une série de sacs (60), est maintenu en communication avec le système circulatoire du patient pendant la durée de l'intervention. Les différents sacs (60) sont reliés, par l'intermédiaire d'un nombre équivalent de soupapes (30), à plusieurs tubes souples (20) raccordés à l'oreillette droite du patient ou à une artère périphérique. Une fois l'anesthésie pratiquée dans la salle d'opération, du sang du patient est recueilli dans lesdits sacs (60) qui constituent un réservoir de sang en circuit fermé. Le sang recueilli pendant l'opération retourne goutte à goutte dans le système circulatoire du patient ou il active la circulation veineuse.
