A tray has an elongated upper panel and a lateral plate oriented normally to the upper panel. A clamping plate is juxtaposed with the lateral plate on opposite sides of the legs of a step-ladder. The lateral plate has a number of aligned apertures arranged in two sets, each disposed in proximity to and extending inwardly from each of its end edges. The clamping plate likewise has a number of apertures, each in axial alignment with a separate aperture in the lateral plate. A stud is receivable in any axially aligned apertures for interconnecting the lateral plate and the clamping plate and a nut is threadably attached to the stud so that the clamping plate can be tightened to the lateral plate. When the nut is loosened, the legs of the ladder may be unfolded open for use and folded closed for storage without the necessity of removing the tray from the ladder.
