The invention provides methods of screening compounds for potential pharmacological activity using nematode worms, principally but not exclusively the nematode C. elegans. Specifically, the invention relates to the use of nematodes modified to have certain characteristics which provide advantages for compound screening, such as constitutive pharyngeal pumping, increased gut permeability or altered gut molecular transport. Methods for selecting suitably modified nematodes from a population of nematodes are also provided.

Cette invention concerne des procédés de criblage de composés présentant une activité pharmacologique potentielle au moyen de nématodes, principalement, mais pas exclusivement, de C. elegans. L'invention concerne en particulier l'utilisation de nématodes modifiés pour qu'ils présentent certaines caractéristiques avantageuses au plan du criblage, telles que pompage pharyngée constitutif, perméabilité intestinale accrue ou transport moléculaire intestinal modifié. Sont également présentés des procédés de sélection de nématodes modifiés de façon appropriés dans une population de nématodes.
