A dental milling instrument comprises a base which is connected to a guide column for a vertically adjustable milling arm which receives a milling unit. The milling arm is capable of being displaced with a supporting slide along a guideway of the guide column by means of an electromotive height-adjusting drive. A threaded spindle that is capable of being driven by an adjusting motor is in engagement in backlash-free and self-blocking manner with a spindle nut in the supporting slide. Vertical positioning and vertical fixation are effected exclusively from an operating panel on the base.
