A system and method for activating and funding prepaid cards at the point of sale by making innovative use of existing point-of-sale devices and existing credit/debit card acceptance networks and processes. The invention obviates the need to implement new/different technology at point-of-sale terminals that are widely used at retail outlets. This invention makes use of the existing credit and charge card systems and processes, including industry standard message formats, to settle funds and fees between the seller and the issuer of the prepaid card, thus further reducing the expense and time-to-market for product distribution.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé pour activer et créditer des cartes à prépaiement au point de vente avec utilisation normale, c'est-à-dire sans ajout technologique, de dispositifs de points de vente et de réseaux acceptant les cartes de crédit/débit existants et de procédés associés existants. Grâce à l'invention, il n'est pas nécessaire de mettre en oeuvre une technologie de transformation nouveau/différent aux terminaux de points de vente qui sont largement utilisés aux points de vente au détail. Selon cette invention, on utilise les systèmes et les procédés avec carte de crédit et de paiement existants, y compris les formats de messages à la norme industrielle, pour le règlement de fonds et de taxes entre le vendeur et l'émetteur de la carte à prépaiement, ce qui permet de réduire encore les dépenses et le temps de mise en oeuvre pour la distribution de produits.
