a method and apparatus to provide therapy to a patient for protecting cardiac tissue from insult is disclosed. The method comprises delivering electrical stimulation to one or more predetermined portions of the nervous system in a patient's body; and monitoring one or more physiologic indices of the body to determine whether the delivered therapy is effective. That is, a closed-loop feedback controller is used to apply electrical stimulation to preselected regions of the patient's body, and then the physiologic response of the patient is monitored to determine the efficacy of the stimulation.
L'invention concerne une méthode et un appareil fournissant une thérapie à un patient pour protéger les tissus cardiaques d'accidents. Cette méthode consiste à administrer une stimulation électrique à une ou plusieurs parties prédéterminées du système nerveux dans le corps d'un patient, à contrôler un ou plusieurs indices physiologiques du corps afin de déterminer si la thérapie administrée est efficace. Pour ce faire, un contrôleur à rétroaction en boucle fermée est utilisé pour appliquer une stimulation électrique à des régions corporelles présélectionnées du patient, puis la réponse physiologique du patient est contrôlée afin de déterminer l'efficacité de la stimulation.
