Lubricant mixtures for use as base fluid in bearing grease comprising 25 to 90% w/w of a liquid ester having a viscosity at 40°C in the range 100 to 200 mm2/s, and 75 to 10% w/w of a liquid poly-.alpha.-olefin having a viscosity at 100°C in the range 2 to 10 mm2/s, and bearing grease compositions containing a major proportion of such lubricant mixtures, particularly such compositions containing a clay thickener.
