A method for monitoring a distributed system for supplying goods and services allows for the generation of messages concerning the state of the system. The system comprises a number of local units which may be e g. vending machines. The generation of messages is based on certain definitions of events, message types, and when the messages should be generated. The definitions are stored in a microcontroller in each local unit which communicates with a host computer in a control center. Defined events are detected and registered in the local unit and compared with predetermined control criteria before a message is transmitted to the host computer according to the preset definitions and used for updating. The resulting information is used for managing and servicing the system. In particular applications the method allows for generation of alarms, the operation of electronic coin units and inventory control and sales prognoses.
Procédé de contrôle d'un système décentralisé proposant des biens et des services. Ce procédé permet de produire des messages concernant l'état du système. Le système comporte un certain nombre d'unités locales telles que des distributeurs automatiques. La production des messages se fait en fonction de certaines définitions d'évènements, de certains types de messages et des heures auxquelles les messages doivent être produits. Les définitions sont stockées dans un microcontrôleur dans chacune des unités locales mises en communication avec un ordinateur central dans un centre de commande. Des évènements définis sont détectés et enregistrés dans l'unité locale puis comparés avec des critères de commande prédéterminés avant la transmission d'un message à l'ordinateur central suivant les définitions prédéterminées, et son utilisation pour la mise à jour. Les informations ainsi obtenues sont utilisées dans la gestion et l'entretien du système. Dans certains applications particulières, le procédé permet d'émettre des alarmes, de commander des unités électroniques à monnaie et d'obtenir des pronostics de ventes et de gestion du parc.
