Direct oxidation of propylene to propylene oxide is accomplished using alkaline earth metal compound-supported silver catalysts containing tungsten and potassium promoters. In one embodiment of the invention, the tungsten promoter and the potassium promoter are simultaneously introduced through the use of potassium tungstate. Catalysts of this type exhibit unusually high propylene oxide productivity when carbon dioxide is present in the feedstream.

L'oxydation directe du propylène en oxyde de propylène est réalisée au moyen de catalyseurs à l'argent sur support de composés de métaux terreux contenant des promoteurs de tungstène et de potassium. Selon un mode de réalisation, le promoteur du tungstène et le promoteur du potassium sont introduits simultanément par l'utilisation de tungstate de potassium. Les catalyseurs de ce type présentent une productivité exceptionnellement élevée d'oxyde de propylène lorsque le dioxyde de carbone est présent dans le courant d'alimentation.
