A serum-free insect cell culture medium is described which provides improvements in the maximum cell density supported and replication of insect viruses within these cells, at a significantly lower cost than commercially- available media. An improved method for preparing a lipid emulsion which is easy to scale and which produces a more stable emulsion with a longer shelf life is also described.
