19 ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A linear series pass voltage regulator for regulating the output voltage of a fuel cell. The regulator utilizes a master branch circuit connected with a plurality of parallel connected slave branches. The master branch includes a variable drive voltage circuit which is used to set the output voltage level from the regulator and the level of a reference voltage that is supplied to each of the slave branches. Each slave branch uses an FET transistor as a variable resistor whose resistance is dependent on the reference voltage from the master branch and a feedback voltage which is indicative of the amount of current flowing through the respective series pass FET. The slave branches are designed such that they each share a substantially equal amount of current.
