A regulating valve device is provided for utilization with an end-of-train unit in order to reduce a train brake pipe pressure from the rear end in accordance with a pressure reduction initiated at the locomotive on the front end. A stepping motor under control of a microprocessor controls the compression of a spring to establish a target pressure corresponding to a pressure command signal transmitted from the locomotive to the end-of-train unit. The service exhaust valve device regulates the brake pipe pressure to the target pressure corresponding to the spring compression set by the stepping motor and includes an arrangement for overriding the motor control in the event of a fault condition that prevents the motor from resetting the spring to its initial compression when it is desired to recharge the brake pipe to release a brake application.

Cette invention concerne un appareil de régulation à utiliser avec un système de surveillance en queue de train pour réduire la pression dans la canalisation de freinage depuis l'arrière du train en fonction de la réduction de pression commandée depuis la locomotive en tête de rame. Un moteur pas à pas commandé par un microprocesseur règle la compression d'un ressort servant à déterminer une pression de consigne correspondant au signal de régulation de la pression transmis de la locomotive au système de surveillance en queue de train. La valve de mise à l'atmosphère de la conduite générale abaisse la pression à la valeur de consigne correspondant à la compression du ressort déterminée par le moteur pas à pas et comprend un mécanisme de neutralisation de l'effet de ce moteur en cas d'anomalie de fonctionnement empêchant le moteur de rétablir la compression du ressort à sa valeur initiale lorsqu'il faut remettre en pression la conduite générale pour desserrer les freins.
