A process for preparing acrylic polymers by means of aqueous suspension polymerization in the presence of 0.05 - 1% by weight, calculated on the suspension, of a stabiliz- er consisting of a polymer prepared by polymerization of: 50-100% by weight of a salt of a sulphoacrylamide of general formula: (see formula I) 0-40% by weight of at least an acrylic monomer.
