The invention relates to a method of preparing chemical pulp and xylose by the use of alkaline or neutral cooking and post hydrolysis of the pulp by performing the post hydrolysis directly on the pulp by means of acid treatment. In the method of the invention, the xylan in the pulp is utilized as completely as possible, resulting in a good xylose yield and, simultaneously, acceptable characteristics for the pulp.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation de pâte à papier chimique et de xylose par cuisson alcaline ou neutre suivie d'une post-hydrolyse de la pâte à papier, ladite post-hydrolyse étant réalisée directement sur la pâte à papier par traitement acide. Selon le procédé de l'invention, le xylane de la pâte à papier est utilisé autant que possible, ce qui a pour conséquence un bon rendement en xylose ainsi qu'une pâte à papier de propriétés acceptables.
