An air spring (1) has a pair of spaced end members (2) for mounting the spring at spaced locations on a structure. A flexible sleeve (10) of elastomeric material is sealingly engaged with the end members (2) and (3) and forms a pressurized fluid chamber (15) therebetween. A post (36) is mounted on one of the end members (3) and extends into the fluid chamber (15). A shock absorbing bumper (20) having an outer shell formed of a high strength first plastic material is mounted on the post (36). The shock absorbing bumper shell is formed with a plurality of internal compartments containing one or more blocks (28) formed of a second plastic material. The second plastic material preferably is a thermoplastic and is stronger in compression than the first plastic material of the outer shell. The relatively stronger but stiffer blocks (28) are surrounded by the relatively softer plastic material of the outer shell and provides a bumper having extremely high compressive strength and a high resistance to breakage or fracture.
Une suspension pneumatique (1) possède une paire d'éléments terminaux distants (2) et (3), conçus pour permettre le montage de ladite suspension en des emplacements espacés sur une structure. Un manchon souple (10) en matière élastomère est en contact d'étanchéité avec les éléments terminaux et forme une chambre (15) pour fluide sous pression entre ces éléments. Un montant (36) est fixé à l'un des éléments terminaux (3) et fait saillie à l'intérieur de la chambre (15) pour fluide. Une butée élastique (20) d'amortissement des chocs possédant une coque externe fabriquée dans une première matière plastique haute résistance est fixée sur ledit montant (36). Cette coque de la butée élastique est constituée d'une pluralité de compartiments internes contenant au moins un bloc (28) fabriqué dans une seconde matière plastique. Cette seconde matière plastique est de préférence une matière thermoplastique qui est plus résistante à la compression que la première matière plastique de la coque externe. Les blocs (28) relativement plus résistants mais plus raides sont entourés par la matière plastique relativement plus souple de la coque externe et permettent d'obtenir une butée élastique extrêmement résistante à la compression et hautement résistante à la cassure ou à la fracture.
