A process for producing sulphoxide enriched in the (R) or the (S) enantiomer as required comprises contacting a racemic mixture of such sulphoxide with the enzyme DMSO reductase derived from a bacterium selected according to the enantiomer required from the class consisting of enteric bacteria and Rhodobacter.

Un procédé pour préparer un sulfoxyde enrichi à volonté en énantiomère (R) ou (S) consiste à mettre en contact un mélange racémique d'un tel sulfoxyde avec l'enzyme DMSO réductase obtenue d'une bactérie choisie en fonction de l'énantiomère souhaité à partir de la classe de bactéries entériques et des bactéries du genre Rhodobacter.
