An electrosurgical system is disclosed that applies electrical energy to obtain a pre- determined surgical effect, while also reduc- ing eschar deposits on a working surface of an electrosurgical instrument (4), producing an eschar deposit which is easily removed from the working surface, and/or facilitating removal of eschar deposits during a cleaning procedure. Such benefits may be realized by providing a negative bias on the working sur- face relative to a return path (7) to source (1) during electrosurgical procedures, and/or dur- ing a cleaning procedure which may include contacting the working surface with an elec- trically conductive liquid.

On décrit un système électrochirurgical qui applique de l'énergie électrique pour produire un effet chirurgical prédéterminé et qui dans le même temps réduit les dépôts de matière corporelle sur une surface de travail d'un instrument (4) électrochirurgical et produit un dépôt de matière corporelle qui est facilement éliminé de la surface de travail, et/ou qui facilite l'élimination des dépôts de matière corporelle pendant une procédure de nettoyage.
