A converter (22) for connection between an electrographic sensor (20) and an electrographic controller (21), and comprising: (a) a first set of contacts (23) for connection to the sensor (20); (b) a second set of contacts (24) for connection to the controller (21); and (c) an emulator for emulating at the second set of contacts (24): (i) a four-wire sensor when the first set of contacts (23) is connected to a five-wire sensor and a second set of contacts (24) is connected to a four-wire controller; and/or (ii) a five-wire sensor when the first set of contacts (23) is connected to a four-wire sensor and a second set of contacts (24) is connected to a five- wire controller.
