The present invention is directed to a transition metal catalyst, comprising a Group 8 metal and a ligand having the structure (I), wherein R', R' and R'' are organic groups having 1-15 carbon atoms, n = 1-5, and m = 0-4. The present invention is also directed to a method of forming a compound having an aromatic or vinylic carbon-oxygen, carbon-nitrogen, or carbon-carbon bond using the above catalyst. The catalyst and the method of using the catalyst are advantageous in preparation of compounds under mild conditions of approximately room temperature and pressure.

La présente invention concerne un catalyseur de métaux de transition, comportant un métal du groupe 8 et un ligand représenté par la formule I, dans laquelle R, R', et R'' sont des groupes organiques comportant entre 1 et 15 atomes de carbone, n = 1-5, et m = 0-4. Par ailleurs, l'invention concerne une méthode de formation d'un composé présentant une liaison aromatique ou vinylique carbone-oxygène, carbone-azote, ou carbone-carbone, faisant intervenir ledit catalyseur. Ce catalyseur et sa méthode d'utilisation sont particulièrement avantageux dans la préparation de composés dans des conditions douces de températures et de pressions approximativement ambiantes.
