An optical device for providing a dual imaging system, for example a fingerprint imager and a video imager, is disclosed. The dual imaging system comprises a micromirror device that is movable between two positions, which allow the light that is propagated along two different optical paths to be received by a single CCD camera, but not at the same time. The first optical path includes a platen and the second includes a lens for conventional video image capture.
