The present invention provides a method of handing-off a remote unit (113) from a first base station (101) to a second base station (102). The remote unit (113) communicates with the first base station (101) and establishes communication with a second base station (102). It is then determined, preferably by the remote unit (113), that the remote unit (113) should hand- off to the second base station (102). An overhead information start time is then determined. The remote unit (102) may determine when the overhead information will be broadcast by the second base station (102), thereby establishing an overhead information start time. The overhead information start time is the time when overhead information will be transmitted from the second base station (102). The first base station (101) and the second base station (102) may be synchronized to transmit the overhead information at approximately the same time. In this manner, the remote unit (102) can determine the overhead information start time at the second base station (102) by monitoring the overhead information start time at the first base station (101). The remote unit (113) is then handed off to the second base station (102) based upon the overhead information start time.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé servant à transférer une unité distante (113) d'une première station de base (101) à une seconde station de base (102). L'unité distante (113) communique avec la première station de base (101) et établit la communication avec une seconde station de base (102). Le moment où l'unité distante (113) doit se transférer à la seconde station de base (102) est alors déterminé, de préférence par l'unité distante (113). Une heure de début des informations de service est ensuite déterminée. L'unité distante (102) peut déterminer quand les informations de service vont être diffusée par la seconde station de base (102), fixant ainsi une heure de début des informations de service. L'heure de début des informations de service correspond au moment où les informations de service vont être transmises depuis la seconde station de base (102). La première station de base (101) et la seconde station de base (102) peuvent se synchroniser pour transmettre les informations de service approximativement au même moment. Ainsi, l'unité distante (102) peut déterminer l'heure de début des informations de service au niveau de la seconde station de base (102), en contrôlant l'heure de début des informations de service au niveau de la première station de base (101). L'unité distante (113) est alors transférée à la seconde station de base (102) en se fondant sur l'heure de début des informations de service.
