Aspects of the invention are directed to systems and method for limiting losses in an uninterruptible power supply. In one aspect, the present invention provides an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) (10) comprising an input (12) to receive in-put power having an input voltage, an output (14) to provide output power having an output voltage, a neutral line, an automatic voltage regulation (AVR) transformer (20) coupled to the input (12) and the output (14) of the UPS (10) and having an input, an output, a core and at least one switch controllably coupled to at least one of the core, the input and the output, and a means (34) for isolating the core of the AVR transformer (20) from the neutral line when the input voltage is substantially equal to a defined output voltage.

Selon un aspect, on décrit une alimentation électrique ininterruptible (UPS) (10) comprenant une entrée (12) pour recevoir une puissance d'entrée possédant une tension d'entrée, une sortie (14) pour fournir une puissance de sortie possédant une tension de sortie, une ligne neutre, un transformateur à régulation de tension automatique (AVR) (20) couplé à l'entrée (12) et à la sortie (14) de l'UPS (10) et possédant une entrée, une sortie, une partie centrale et au moins un commutateur couplé de façon réglable à la partie centrale et/ou à l'entrée et/ou à la sortie, et un moyen (34) permettant d'isoler la partie centrale du transformateur AVR (20) de la ligne neutre lorsque la tension d'entrée est sensiblement égale à une tension de sortie définie.
