A measurement device, such as a laser radar (66), is described that comprises a transmitter portion for transmitting radiation to a remote probe volume, a receiver portion for detecting radiation returned from the remote probe volume and a processor for analysing the detected return radiation. The device is suitable for transmitting and receiving radiation through a window portion (54) having associated window cleaning apparatus (e.g. wiper 62) for cleaning said window portion (54) in response to a cleaning activation signal. The processor is arranged to generate a cleaning activation signal for activating window cleaning apparatus when the properties of said detected return radiation are indicative of a reduction in transmission through at least part of said window portion. In one embodiment, a conically scanned lidar (66) is described that generates a cleaning activation signal when the power of detected return radiation varies as a function of the angle of transmission of radiation from the device. Corresponding methods and a weatherproof laser device (50) are also described.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de mesure, tel qu~un radar à laser (66) qui comprend un émetteur destiné à émettre un rayonnement vers un volume sondé distant, un récepteur destiné à détecter le rayonnement retourné depuis ce volume et un processeur d~analyse du rayonnement retourné détecté. Ce dispositif a pour but d~émettre et de recevoir un rayonnement à travers une section de fenêtre (54) pourvue d~un outil de nettoyage de fenêtre (p. ex. un essuie-glace (62)) afin de nettoyer ladite section de fenêtre (54) suite à un signal d~activation de nettoyage. Le processeur est conçu de manière à générer un signal d~activation du nettoyage pour activer l~outil lorsque les propriétés dudit rayonnement retourné détecté indiquent une réduction d~émission de la part d~au moins une zone de ladite section de fenêtre. Dans un mode de réalisation, il s~agit d~un lidar numérisé coniquement (66) qui génère un signal d~activation de nettoyage lorsque la puissance du rayonnement retourné détecté varie en fonction de l~angle d~émission du rayonnement provenant du dispositif. Les procédés correspondants ainsi qu~un dispositif à laser intempérisé (50) sont également décrits.
