The invention relates to a catalyst for the steam reforming of alcohols, which contains a palladium/zinc alloy and zinc oxide as catalytically active components. The alloy catalyst is characterised in that the catalytically active components are deposited on at least one support material from the group comprising aluminium oxide, aluminium silicate, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, zeoliths and mixtures or mixed oxides thereof.
