The invention relates to an item monitoring system and method which use RFID technology for the automatic monitoring of operations involving items being taken from and returned to one or more storage positions in a work area and which can be used to maintain an online status and use history record for each item. In addition, the system can automatically recognise every operation in which an item is taken and automatically record said operations, associating the item identification data with information relating to the storage position thereof, the user who took or returned the item to or from the storage position and the date and time of the operation. The system can also compile the aforementioned information in one or more databases and said databases can synchronise all of the information contained therein in order to manage same, report and transmit alarms, monitor the use of items, monitor the upkeep of items (such as maintenance, calibration or replacement) and generate statistics relating to the use of each item.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de gestion d'articles faisant intervenir la technologie RFiD de surveillance automatique des opérations de prise et de retour d'articles en une ou plusieurs positions de stockage dans une zone de travail et permettant de visualiser l'état en ligne de chaque article ainsi que son historique d'utilisation. Selon l'invention, on propose un système qui reconnaît automatiquement chaque opération de prise et qui enregistre automatiquement ces opérations en associant les données sur l'identification d'un article aux informations sur la position de stockage, à savoir les informations de l'utilisateur qui a pris ou remis l'article à la position de stockage avec la date et l'heure et qui finalement compile l'information en au moins une base de données destinée à synchroniser l'information de sa gestion, reporter et envoyer des alertes, contrôler l'utilisation des articles, surveiller le maintien des articles (notamment le maintien, le calibrage ou le remplacement) et générer des statistiques d'utilisation pour chaque article.
