A compound or composition incorporating silver carbonate is disclosed for use in removing excess hydrogen ions in a patient. The silver carbonate reacts with chloride ions in the patient to produce a silver chloride precipitate. The chemical reaction producing silver chloride causes the release of hydroxyl, carbonate and/or bicarbonate ions which react with free hydrogen ions in the patient to form carbon dioxide and water.

Cette invention se rapporte à un composé ou à une composition qui contient du carbonate d'argent et qui est utilisée pour éliminer un excédent d'ions hydrogène chez un patient. Le carbonate d'argent réagit avec les ions chlorure du corps du patient, de façon à produire un précipité de chlorure d'argent. Cette réaction chimique produisant du chlorure d'argent entraîne la libération d'ions hydroxyle, carbonate et/ou bicarbonate, lesquels réagissent avec les ions hydrogène libres du corps du patient, afin de former du dioxyde de carbone et de l'eau.
