The present invention relates to methods and compositions effective in treating, preventing, reducing the severity of, or relieving the symptoms of, Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). The compositions comprise, as an active ingredient, an extract from the plant genus Conyza Less, preferably from the species Conyza bonariensis (L) Cronq. The composition comprises only natural ingredients and has been demonstrated to be safe for use, while still providing a beneficial therapeutic effect. The composition can also be administered in combination with traditional anti-GERD medicines, either over-the-counter or prescription medicines such as antacids, H2-receptor agonists, proton pump inhibitors, promotility agents and Sucralfate. The compositions are particularly effective in treating and preventing GERD, the symptoms or GERD and conditions associated with GERD, including heartburn, regurgitation, esophagitis, Non-Erosive Esophageal Reflux Disease (NERD), Barrett's Esophagus, and any combination thereof.
La présente invention concerne des procédés et des compositions efficaces pour traiter, prévenir ou réduire la gravité d'un reflux gastro-AEsophagien pathologique (RGOP), ou en atténuer les symptômes. Les compositions contiennent en tant que principe actif un extrait du genre végétal Conyza Less, de préférence de l'espèce Conyza bonariensis (L) Cronq. La composition ne contient que des ingrédients naturels et son innocuité d'utilisation a été démontrée, tout en produisant malgré tout un effet thérapeutique bénéfique. La composition peut également être administrée conjointement avec des médicaments anti-RGOP traditionnels, soit des médicaments en vente libre, soit des médicaments délivrés sur ordonnance, tels que des antiacides, des agonistes des récepteurs H2, des inhibiteurs de pompe à protons, des agents favorisant le transit et du sucralfate. Les compositions sont particulièrement efficaces pour le traitement et la prévention du RGOP, des symptômes du RGOP et des pathologies associées au RGOP, incluant les aigreurs d'estomac, la régurgitation, l'AEsophagite, le reflux gastro-AEsophagien non érosif (RGONE), l'AEsophage de Barrett, et n'importe quelle combinaison de ces pathologies.
