An assembly system and method for assembling an aircraft wing box (200) or other structure that may define an interior area accessible through at least one access opening are provided. The method includes inserting a robot (250) having an assembly tool (452) mounted thereto into the interior area through the at least one access opening. The assembly tool may be positioned at a fastener location, and may be clamped to the structure. A hole may be made through the structure, and a fastener may be installed in the hole.

La présente invention concerne un système d'assemblage et un procédé d'assemblage d'un caisson de voilure ou autre structure d'aéronef pouvant définir un espace intérieur accessible via au moins une ouverture d'accès. Le procédé comprend l'insertion d'un robot comprenant un outil d'assemblage monté à celui-ci dans l'espace intérieur à travers ladite ouverture d'accès. L'outil d'assemblage peut être positionné au niveau d'un emplacement d'attaches, et peut être fixé à la structure. Un orifice peut être réalisé à travers la structure, et une attache peut être installée dans l'orifice.
