A silver nitrate feed solution comprising nitrite and nitric acid is treated to produce a low-nitrite silver nitrate product solution. In the process, the temperature of the feed solution is established in the range of from about 80°C to about the boiling point of the feed solution. The feed solution is introduced into a vessel (10) having a stripping zone (12) containing a contacting element (14) and is dispersed over contacting element (14). The feed solution if flowed counter to and intimately contacted in stripping zone (14) with a motive gas to strip nitrite from solution and from a low-nitrite silver nitrate product solution.

Une solution d'alimentation en nitrate d'argent, renfermant du nitrite et de l'acide nitrique, est traitée pour l'obtention d'une solution de nitrate d'argent à faible teneur en nitrite. Dans le procédé, on règle la température de la solution d'alimentation entre environ 80 °C et approximativement le point d'ébullition de la solution d'alimentation. La solution d'alimentation est introduite dans un contenant (10) comportant une zone de purification (12), avec un élément de mise en contact (14) au-dessus duquel elle est dispersée. La solution d'alimentation s'écoule à contre-courant et entre en contact dans la zone de purification (14) avec un gaz mobile pour éliminer le nitrite de la solution et donner une solution de nitrate d'argent à faible teneur en nitrite.
