A non-slip mat for use in a wet environment, such as a shower unit, bath tub or surrounding floor environment thereof, said mat comprising a plurality of plies comprising a first ply and a second ply of a water-absorbent fabric material, such as cotton, retained one ply to another and defining a void therebetween. The mat prevents or reduces the risk of a person slipping on the wet surface and being injured.
