A method for the controlled break-up of liquid jets for production of substantially monodispersed drops stands out for the fact that it comprises the steps of: - feeding a plurality of first liquid jets (4) having stationary motion to a plurality of mutually independent sectors and defined in a perforated surface (8); - forming a head of liquid (10) in said sectors (7) near said perforated surface (8); - causing said liquid to flow across said perforated surface (8) to form a plurality of second liquid jets (6); - periodically changing with a predetermined frequency the momentum of the liquid fed to a predetermined sector (7) so as to impart to the liquid present in said sector a disturbance of predetermined magnitude consisting of a periodic change in the pressure near said perforated surface (8) which is transmitted to the second liquid jets (6) causing their controlled break-up in a plurality of substantially monodispersed drops.

Cette invention concerne une méthode d'atomisation contrôlée de jets de liquide pour la production de gouttelettes essentiellement monodispersées qui se caractérise par le fait qu'elle comprend les étapes suivantes : amenée d'une pluralité de jets de liquide (4) sous pression statique vers une pluralité de secteurs indépendants définis dans une surface perforée (8); création d'une pression de liquide (10) dans lesdits secteurs (7) à proximité de ladite surface perforée (8); forçage de l'écoulement dudit liquide à travers ladite surface perforée (8) pour former une pluralité de jets de liquide secondaires (6); modification périodique à une fréquence prédéterminée de la quantité de mouvement du liquide acheminé à un secteur (7) prédéterminé de façon à imprimer au liquide présent dans ledit secteur une turbulence d'amplitude prédéterminée sous la forme d'une variation périodique de la pression à proximité de ladite surface perforée (8) qui est transmise aux jets de liquide secondaires (6), ce qui se traduit par leur atomisation contrôlée donnant une pluralité de gouttelettes sensiblement monodispersées.
